The Friends is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization. About 120 men and women donate their time and talents to serving on the board of trustees,  leading tours, organizing, and staffing the the Dome gift shop.  They also plan events and help develop educational materials. Funds and donations generated by a variety of activities are directed to the State House collections and the ongoing conservation of the building.

Volunteers are vital to the Friends’ mission of educating the visiting public about our State House and about Vermont itself. Every year volunteers enjoy an autumn field trip to another historic site and a festive spring luncheon with a preview of the year's main activities. Please contact the Friends' office if you are interested in being a volunteer. Contact us or call (802) 828-0386.
