"Freedom is not worth fighting for if it means no more than license for everyone to get as much as he can for himself."  -- Dorothy Canfield Fisher

On November 13, Friends Trustee Helene Lang, a skilled presenter of the lives of literary figures, will give us a portrait of one of America's most beloved authors, Dorothy Canfield Fisher. Fisher sets her stories mostly in New England, but her writing transcends regionalism and strikes universal human themes. Her work, over 40 fiction and nonfiction books, attacks discrimination, intolerance, brutality, and fraud. The book, Fisher assures us, is the surest tool for thought and critical thinking. Join us for an evening of literature and the fascinating life of Dorothy Canfield Fisher.

The presentation will be in the House Chamber of the State House.  It is free and the public is cordially invited and encouraged to attend.  A reception follows, in the Cedar Creek Room.
